Christina Kelsh, MEd, MMus, BA

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my page to learn more about the music learning opportunities I offer! I am both a professional musician and a professional educator, with a current Vermont state educator’s license for teaching music to preK-12th grade students. I have spent the last 13 years teaching music, chorus, band and adaptive music in public schools; before that I spent many years performing professionally as a flutist and teaching flute, piano and voice students of all ages. I hold a Master’s of Education from the University of New Hampshire, a Master’s of Instrumental Performance from Bowling Green State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Messiah College.

I love teaching music and learning alongside my students! I believe music instruction should be accessible to everyone, and celebrate and embrace diversity in all its forms. I strive to be anti-racist, an LGBTQIA+ ally, and am always working to expand my understanding and implementation of neurodivergent-affirming practices.

In 2020-2021 I taught K-8 music online for a virtual school that was created in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. I quickly learned that music instruction online is something that works very well for some students, and I was hooked. Since then I have continued my professional development with teaching online, and also witnessed my own child’s musical and personal growth through online music classes and piano lessons. I am committed to offering high-quality, meaningful and flexible learning opportunities online.

I offer individual and group lessons in flute, piano, recorder, music composition, and general music. I have training in Alexander Technique and Body Mapping, and use that training and experience to help students develop healthy physical habits that prevent overuse injury and support the development of a free and fluid technique. I also specialize in helping students manage performance anxiety.
